VETMIS (VETA Online Application System) 2025/2026

The Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) has fully digitized its admission and record-management processes through VETMIS (Vocational Education and Training Management Information System). Whether you are a Standard Seven leaver, a Form Four graduate, or a professional seeking certification, mastering this portal is your first step toward a vocational career in Tanzania.

For the 2025/2026 academic cycle, the system (often referred to as VETMIS 2.0) has been streamlined to handle everything from initial registration to fee payments via the Government e-Payment Gateway (GePG). This guide explains how to use the system effectively.

What is VETMIS?

VETMIS is the central database and application portal for all VETA colleges across Tanzania. It replaces the old paper-based application system.

  • For Applicants: It is the only valid way to apply for Long Courses (CBA), Short Courses, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

  • For Students: It tracks your academic progress, generates payment control numbers, and stores your certification records.

Key Dates for the 2025/2026 Admission Cycle

Understanding the application windows is critical. Unlike universities, VETA colleges often have specific intakes for different types of courses.

  • Main Admission Window (Long Courses): Typically opens in May and runs through July/August. This is for the standard 2-year programs starting in January.

    • Note: If you missed the main window, keep an eye out for the “March Intake” window which typically opens in February.

  • Short Courses: Applications are generally open year-round or on a rolling basis depending on the specific center (e.g., Driving, Computer Applications, Tailoring).

  • RPL Assessment: Applications are usually open continuously, with assessments scheduled periodically by regional centers.

Step-by-Step Registration Guide (VETMIS 2.0)

If you are new to the system, you must create a profile before applying for any course.

Step 1: Access the Official Portal Open your browser and navigate to: https://vetmis.veta.go.tz/

  • Tip: Ensure you see the VETA logo and the government emblem to confirm you are on the secure site.

Step 2: Create an Account

  1. Click on “Sajili Akaunti Mpya” (Register Applicant).

  2. Personal Details: Enter your First Name, Middle Name, and Last Name exactly as they appear on your academic certificates or NIDA ID.

  3. Contact Info: Provide a valid mobile number and email address. This is crucial as your password recovery and admission letters will be sent here.

  4. Security: Create a strong password that you can remember.

Step 3: Login and Profile Completion Once registered, click “Ingia” (Login) using your new username (often your phone number or email) and password. You will then need to complete your profile:

  • Education History: Upload details of your primary (Standard 7) or secondary (Form 4) education.

  • Attachments: Scan and upload clear copies of your Birth Certificate and Academic Certificates. A blurred document is a common reason for rejection.

How to Apply for Courses

Once logged in, you will see different dashboards for different programs. Choose the correct path:

A. Long Courses (Kozi za Muda Mrefu)

These are formal programs (e.g., Electrical Installation, Motor Vehicle Mechanics) leading to NVA Level 1-3 certifications.

  1. Click on “Application” and select “Long Course.”

  2. Center Selection: You can usually select up to three choices of colleges (e.g., VETA Kipawa, VETA Dodoma, VETA Mbeya).

  3. Trade Selection: Choose your preferred trade (Fani) for each college.

  4. Submit: After reviewing, submit the application.

B. Short Courses (Kozi Fupi)

  1. Select the “Short Course” tab.

  2. These applications are often direct to the specific center. You will see a list of available short courses currently open for enrollment.

  3. Select the course and click “Apply.”

Payments and Control Numbers

VETMIS is integrated with GePG. Do not pay cash to any individual.

  1. Application Fee: When you submit an application, the system will generate a Control Number (e.g., 99123…).

  2. Amount: The application fee is typically TZS 5,000 to TZS 10,000 (verify the exact amount on your bill).

  3. How to Pay: Use mobile money (M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money) or a bank agent. Select “Government Payments” -> “Enter Control Number.”

  4. Tuition Fees: If selected, you will use the same process to generate control numbers for your tuition and hostel fees.

Troubleshooting: Common VETMIS Issues

Issue 1: “Invalid Credentials”

  • Solution: Ensure you are not adding spaces before or after your username. If you forgot your password, use the “Forgot Password” link—do not create a second account, as this can cause data conflicts.

Issue 2: “System Unreachable”

  • Solution: During peak selection times (December/January), the server may be busy. Try accessing the site during off-peak hours (early morning or late night).

Issue 3: Document Upload Failure

  • Solution: Ensure your files are in PDF or JPG format and are under 2MB in size. Large files will fail to upload.

Conclusion

The VETMIS platform is designed to make vocational education accessible to everyone in Tanzania. By following the digital procedures correctly—keeping your profile updated, paying via control numbers, and respecting deadlines you ensure a smooth start to your vocational training journey.
