Job Overview

NMB Bank Plc is seeking a highly analytical and strategic professional to fill the position of Senior Marketing Research, Analytics, and Consumer Insights Manager. In an era where data is the new currency, this role is pivotal to our strategy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for helping business units make data-driven decisions by rigorously analyzing market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor strategies. This role is essential in optimizing marketing campaigns, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring that our marketing efforts are perfectly aligned with industry shifts and evolving customer demands. By leveraging advanced data analytics, market research, and digital insights, you will help NMB Bank stay competitive and maximize its marketing Return on Investment (ROI).

Key Responsibilities & Strategic Deliverables

This senior role is divided into five critical strategic areas:

1. Marketing Research & Analytics

  • Trend Identification: Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, potential growth opportunities, and changes in the competitive landscape.

  • Behavioral Analysis: Analyze consumer behavior, purchase patterns, and engagement metrics to refine and optimize marketing strategies.

  • Data Synthesis: Gather and interpret complex data from multiple sources, including surveys, social media, website analytics, and industry reports, to create a holistic view of the market.

  • Reporting: Develop detailed reports and interactive dashboards to support data-driven decision-making for marketing and business teams.

  • Forecasting: Forecast market trends and consumer preferences to help shape future marketing initiatives and ensure the bank stays ahead of the curve.

  • Tool Utilization: Utilize advanced tools like Google Analytics, CRM software, Tableau, and Excel to track, visualize, and interpret data.

2. Consumer Insights & Qualitative Research

  • Comprehensive Research: Conduct comprehensive quantitative and qualitative research to deeply understand consumer preferences, trends, and the competitive landscape.

  • Survey Management: Design and execute consumer surveys from end-to-end (survey design, fielding, analysis) to gather feedback on products, promotions, and brand perception.

  • Focus Groups: Moderate focus groups and in-depth interviews, analyzing qualitative outputs to extract actionable insights.

  • Persona Development: Develop detailed profiles of target consumers, mapping their needs, preferences, and pain points to inform product development.

  • AI Integration: Understand the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in market research and leverage AI tools where necessary to enhance speed and accuracy.

3. Advanced Data Analysis

  • Pattern Recognition: Analyze data collected from various sources such as sales reports and social listening tools to identify hidden patterns and opportunities.

  • Competitor Intelligence: Monitor and assess the strategies and performance of competitors to identify their strengths and weaknesses, flagging potential threats to the Bank.

  • Process Optimization: Leverage data analytics tools and CRM systems to streamline data collection and analysis processes, improving efficiency.

4. Brand Monitoring & Health Tracking

  • Sentiment Analysis: Track brand mentions and sentiment across different online and offline channels to gauge real-time brand health and reputation.

  • Brand Equity: Manage brand health, brand lift, and equity trackers across platforms, synthesizing disparate data points into cohesive narratives for leadership.

  • Customer Loyalty: Measure and monitor customer satisfaction and loyalty through rigorous feedback mechanisms, providing recommendations to improve the Net Promoter Score (NPS).

  • Innovation: Provide insights to guide product development and innovation, ensuring that new banking products align perfectly with consumer demands.

5. Marketing Strategy & Leadership

  • Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with marketing teams to develop effective strategies and campaigns that are rooted in consumer insights.

  • Ethical Compliance: Ensure that all data collection and analysis adhere to legal and ethical standards, particularly concerning consumer privacy and data protection laws.

  • Executive Presentation: Own the end-to-end creation of insights presentations, from storyline development to final edits, including materials for Board-level reviews.

  • Budget Management: Efficiently manage the budget allocated for research and insights activities to ensure maximum value.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following strict academic and professional criteria:

Academic Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Actuarial Sciences.

  • Master’s degree (MBA or MSc in Marketing, Digital Strategy, or a related discipline) is considered a distinct added advantage.

  • Professional Certification in Product & Digital Marketing is also an added advantage.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Marketing.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Retail Banking or Financial Services.

  • Analytics Experience: Proven experience in business operations, analytics, and data visualization. You must demonstrate the ability to create insights that improve business outcomes.

  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with statistical techniques and predictive modeling using tools such as SPSS, SAS, Python, or Adobe Analytics.

  • Visualization Skills: Expertise in creating insightful dashboards and reports, supported by visual storytelling for executive team members.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Banking Knowledge: Deep understanding of banking and financial products, services, and customer segments.

  • Brand Strategy: Strong grasp of brand management principles and lifecycle strategy.

  • Digital Ecosystems: Excellent understanding of digital ecosystems, customer journey design, and marketing automation.

  • Communication: Exceptional storytelling and stakeholder management skills. You must be able to translate complex data into a compelling narrative for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage agency relationships effectively.

  • Compliance: Familiarity with banking regulations, compliance standards, and consumer protection laws related to financial advertising.
